8 Lifestyle diseases you should take seriously
Communicable diseases like malaria, cholera etc. have become manageable due to recent advancements in medicines. However, a new breed of diseases has started, called ‘Lifestyle diseases’ for example heart disease, cancer, diabetes etc. Globally around 14.2 million people between the ages of 30-69 years die prematurely each year due to these diseases.
Unhealthy eating habits, larger meals and reduced physical exercise all result in obesity. A person with excessive weight suffers from diseases like breathing problem, blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, etc. Let is discuss a few lifestyle diseases here:
1.Type II diabetes
Obesity mostly becomes the cause for other health problems such as Type II Diabetes which is the non-insulin dependent form and generally, develops in adults.

When the BP meter reads 140/90 or higher, the BP is considered to be high. Hypertension results from a variety of reasons like stress, obesity, genetic history, overuse of salt in the food or ageing.
4. Swimmer’s ear
It is inflammation, irritation, or infection of the outer ear and ear canal. Buzzing or ringing ears, or have difficulty in understanding speech patterns are its symptoms.
Cancer includes any hysterical, irregular cell growth. The types of cancer may include lung cancer due to prolonged smoking, skin cancer due to too much exposure to the sun etc.
A stroke results when a blood vessel carrying blood to the brain has a blockage, thus creating a deficiency of oxygen in the area of the brain it was carrying it too.
It is the mother of all diseases. As we know, that obesity is becoming a critical issue in the world. As per WHO, the BMI of most of the young generation is not up to the mark. BMI is Body Mass Index which means your weight should be according to your height. In case you are under-weight your health is lesser at risk, but on the other hand, if you’re overweight, that is a big reason to worry about. Because obesity is the root cause of many diseases.
