Symptoms of Lung Cancer
The lungs are cone-shaped organs inside the chest. The lungs take oxygen into the body when breathing in and leave the carbon dioxide out of the body when breathing out.
The two types of lung cancer are non-small cell and small cell lung cancer. Non-small cell lung cancer is common as compared to small cell lung cancer. The symptoms include unusual bleeding, wheezing, breathing difficulties, and pain in the chest area.Treatment includes surgery, chemotherapy, and/or radiation.
Tobacco and smoking are the common cause of lung cancer. It is the leading cause of death. The symptoms of lung cancer are as given below:
It can happen in advanced cancer. Coughing up blood in the sputum (phlegm) may be a sign of lung cancer. In advance symptoms of lung cancer can be coughing up blood or bloodstained spit. This is the first symptom before any other symptoms develop. Most lung cancers develop in people over the age of 50, most of the smokers. However, sometimes the types of lung cancer can affect younger non-smoking people.
Pain in the Chest Area
Lung cancer may be produced by a simple pain in the chest, shoulders, or back. An aching feeling might not be associated with coughing. Tell your doctor if you notice any type of chest pain. You should also note whether it is restricted to a specific area or is occurring throughout your chest. When it causes chest pain, the pain may result from enlarged lymph nodes to the chest wall, the lining around the lungs called pleura or the ribs.
If airways become constricted, blocked, or inflamed, then the lungs produce a wheezing or whistling sound when you breathe. It can be associated with multiple causes, some of which are benign and easily treatable. It is also a symptom of lung cancer. Don’t assume that wheezing is caused by asthma or allergies. Have your doctor confirm the cause.
Headaches could be a symptom of lung cancer. However, not all types of headaches are linked with brain metastases. Sometimes, a lung tumor may be creating pressure on the superior vena cava. It is a large vein that directs the blood from the upper body to the heart. The pressure can also trigger headaches.
It is discomfort when breathing and the feeling that you can’t draw a complete breath. Shortness of breath, wheezing or noisy breathing may all be signs of lung cancer.
