Simple Yoga for Lifestyle Diseases
Lifestyle disease is a term covering all the diseases which arise due to an unhealthy lifestyle. The most common lifestyle diseases are Hypertension, Diabetes, Arthritis, Obesity, Insomnia etc. These are the major cause of rising young age death in today’s world. Lifestyle disorders were more common in developed countries but now spreading to Developing countries. Yoga has come up as a remedy and cure for lifestyle diseases.
Stand tall with legs together, shoulders relaxed, weight evenly distributed on your soles, arms at the sides.
Take a deep breath and start raising your hands over your head, palms facing each other with arms erect. Reaching up toward the sky with your fingertips.
Start with all four limbs with hands directly under shoulders and knees under hips.
Walk hands forward and spread fingers wide, pressing your palms into mat.
Curl your toes under and slowly press hips toward ceiling, bringing your body into an inverted V, pressing your shoulders away from ears. Feet should be hip-width apart and knees slightly bent.
Hold it 3 full breaths.
Stand tall with your legs 3 to 4 feet apart, turning your right foot out 90 degrees and your left foot slightly in.
Bring hands to hips and relax your shoulders, then extend your arms out to the sides, palms down.
And hence, bend right knee 90 degrees, keeping knee over your ankle; gaze out over the right hand. hold for 1 minute.
Stand tall with arms at sides.
Shift your weight onto left leg and place the sole of right foot on inside of left thigh, keeping your hips facing forward.
Once balanced, bring your hands in front of you in prayer position, palms joined.
On an inhalation, extend your arms over the shoulders, palms separated and facing each another. Hold for 30 seconds.
