Facts About Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar Disorder is also known as manic-depressive illness. It is a brain disorder that causes unique shifts in energy, activity levels, a mood that leads to carrying out day-to-day tasks. In fact, people who have bipolar disorder may spend weeks feeling like they are on top of the world before revealing into a deep depression. The length of each low and high varies from person to person.

Without treatment, a person with bipolar disorder may have intense depression. Symptoms include anxiety, sadness, loss of energy, hopelessness and trouble concentrating. They may lose interest in activities that they used to enjoy. Moreover, it can also include to lose or gain weight, sleep too much or too little and even think about suicide.

People with bipolar disorder experience periods of unusually intense emotion, unusual behaviors, changes in sleep patterns and activity levels. These different periods are called “mood episodes.”

Sometimes people do not feel tired and they keep jumping from one thought to another when talking. They have a higher sex drive. Therefore, they talk really fast about a lot of things.

Patients with depression have decreased activity levels at some points of time. They feel a little energy and feel very down, sad, empty or hopeless. Thus, it shows that they are suffering from Bipolar Disorder.


When people feel like they can’t enjoy anything and have trouble sleeping, it shows they are suffering from BP Disorder. They may sleep too much or too little and have trouble in concentrating too. They also feel worried and empty from inside. These are one of the facts of Bipolar Disorder.

Bipolar Disorder makes people forget things a lot. People feel tired or “slowed down.” Either they eat too much or too little. Moreover, they have suicidal thoughts, planning or attempts.


People with BP Disorder have a loss of energy, Anxiety, uncontrollable crying and restlessness or slowed behaviors. Such patients should be taken into the direct contact with their doctors or psychologists. As we know life is real important for everyone. Thus, suffering from such diseases would be of great loss to oneself and the family members too. Hence, we need to take a proper care of such patients.
